Samsung’s Might Launch New Earbuds Soon
In Europe, Samsung has trademarked the term “Samsung Buds” as per the report of SamMobile which also indicated that they may introduce a pair of new earphones from the manufacturer very soon. This application had led some to expect that we might see a pair of new wireless earbuds, which might be Bixby-focused earphones or a combination of the two as it does not provide any further information.
Fitness-tracking Gear IconX Earbuds
Samsung has already ventured into the world of the true wireless game for a while with its fitness-tracking Gear IconX earbuds, which got a refresh in late 2017. In this year, the company stopped the branding of the “Gear” from the Samsung Galaxy Watch (which followed the Samsung Gear S3).
Stiff completion in the Hearable Market
Huawei also jumped into the game announcing its own true wireless FreeBuds with a guarantee of 10 hours of battery life from a single charge. Last year Google Pixel Buds was launched with the promise of having a Google-powered translation device directly in your ears.
New Hearable from Samsung is Predicted
Samsung has applied for a trademark for Samsung Buds, indicating that this Korean company might be preparing a new hearable for launch. This filing was lodged at the European Union Intellectual Property and disclosed by SamMobile which also listed the possible devices although the details of the buds are limited.
If we go by the name, it is obvious that Samsung is planning to replace the Gear IconX 2018 – which is the second generation of wireless earbuds which are introduced into the market last year only. But how effective and feature rich this application would be and if it will denote the next generation of the smart earbuds or just be a dumb equivalent that will come packaged with its phones (similar to Apple’s EarPods, for example) – or, we would get an altogether different device is still a mystery.
Apple-Google-Samsung Hearable
Of course, there are already IconX’s best-known smart rivals – the Apple AirPods and the Google Pixel Buds – smart assistants are now at the core of smart earbuds. We still have to see if the Bixby really shines in any of Samsung’s wearables, although it is introduced through the IconX 2018, and it is quite obvious that the Buds could be used to help boost the stuttering assistant once again.
If the rumor is correct and the device is genuine and being worked on by the company, we can expect more word over the coming weeks and months.
