According to a recent report by Japanese blog Macotakara the days of the 3.5 mm jack on iPhones may be numbered. Rumors about Apple discarding the universally used head phone jack exploded on the internet, causing a frenzied debate about whether customers were ready for this dramatic change.

Even though Apple appears to be comfortable ditching the 3.5 mm headphone jack to make the iPhone 7 even thinner many people are voicing concerns against this bold move.

While this will limit headphone interchangeability between different brands, it will also pave the way to move smartphones over to a new type of headphone jack. Allegedly Apple is aware of people’s issues with this change & is planning to ease the transition by offering EarPods with each new iPhone.

Many Apple users have voiced their opposition to a thinner iPhone, instead preferring a product with improved durability & battery life. Sacrificing the industry standard 3.5 mm headphone jack may become the deal breaker for many iPhone users. For years people have asked for a more durable version to the current iPhone, & good god don’t get in between them & their music.

Getting rid of the 3.5 headphone jack will create a myriad of repercussions. One of the biggest arguments is that even with the inclusion of EarPods users would still need to carry around a separate pair of headphones for their laptop. These pleas may be falling on deaf ears, since Apple seems to be hell bent on making each iPhone thinner than the last. In the past they have had no qualms over upsetting a few customers in the name of progress.

While some are against the new iPhone modifications other people are hailing this move as a step in the right direction. Many agree that the 3.5 mm headphone jack currently used universally in electronics is outdated & it’s only a matter of time before it gets replaced. We are voting with our wallet, and the resounding vote is we want everything to be a fraction of the size & boast 100 more features.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. After all if Apple would have stopped developing the iPhone after its first launch they would have been put out of business. All of our frantic calls for better technology is helping generate incredible new products from tech companies. We just need to be prepared to deal with the growing pains of pioneering new technology.
