Learn How the Droid Turbo 2’s Unbreakable Design Works
While the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 will not win you over with its beauty, it does have a trick up its sleeve for seducing new clients. Their self-proclaimed un-shatterable screen is the first of its kind and is making a huge splash on social media. Since the creation of smartphones users have accidentally broken their screens in ways too numerous to list in this article. Since then smartphone users have been doomed to using bulky phone protectors or risk the embarrassment of using a phone with a shattered screen. Motorola Droid Turbo 2’s novel feature aims to convert Apple followers by giving their customers an offer that can’t be made by anyone else.
The process of creating this incredible feature took Motorola years to develop & now the company is getting ready to collect the fruits of their labor with the release of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2. This phone is pioneering a whole new type of smartphone that allows customers to use their phones freely without worrying about breaking their screen with one careless gesture. The secret to this genius design is by removing glass completely from the equation and then artfully layering plastic into a sophisticated stack. While all this may seem painfully obvious getting a functioning touchscreen to work is more sophisticated than simply slapping a layer of plastic on top of a phone. In the stack each layer is interconnected, if one layer fails the entire system won’t work.
“The trade-off (for just a simple plastic screen) would likely be a non-working system after a drop,” says Jason Wojack, Motorola VP of engineering and product architecture.
To create a smartphone like no other, Motorola developed one of the most remarkable touchscreen designs to date. Each layer works together to provide the customer with a seamless user experience. They are all essential for creating a touchscreen that can absorb a finger’s impact without affecting pixel performance. To create a phone that can handle the abuse that other phones can’t the outermost layer was made to be scratch-resistant and accompanied with an incredibly strong housing. To achieve this Motorola combined the strong top layer with a second layer made out of poly-carbonate, the same material used in shatter-resistant eyeglasses. They then put a dual-layer touch system for the capacitive touchscreen under the top two layers of protection. The doubled-up touch sensors were then laid over a flexible OLED display that bends but won’t break. Then the whole design encased with a modern cocoon of aluminum chassis.
In the end what you have is a phone that’s as close to indestructible as you can get, even if you have to endure the rough around the edges look that the phone sports. We can’t blame Motorola for the aesthetics, after all this is cutting edge technology. Undoubtedly this model will evolve into the sleek smartphone designs that we have gotten used to. While the looks do undermine the amazing durability of this phone there is no arguing that the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 is a monumental achievement.
